History and Geological Background:
The property is located in a greenstone belt composed mainly of sequences of meta-sedimentary rocks descriptively similar to the Temiskaming meta-sedimentary rocks found in the Kirkland Lake area. The area is characterized by a wide northeast deformation zone of shearing. The claims are located in an area with very little overburden.
Gold was discovered in the area in the mid 1940. Gold was discovered by Felix Roche between 1944-1945. The Northern part of the property is underlain by the Timiskaming metasediments and the southwestern part by the Keewatin felsic metavolcanics which have been altered to chlorite sericite schist. These rocks are cut by north trending Matachewan diabase dikes. A zone of green carbonate rocks 2000 feet long by 250 to 350 feet wide occur along a drag foldin the metavolcanic-metasediment contact. Narrow quartz veins and stringers are scattered throughout the zone.
On the Laroma Gold showing in the Midlothian township, minor amounts of pyrite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite occur in quartz veins and in the dolomitic wallrock. A chip sample taken from a pit in claim MR133320 assayed 1.34 oz of Au per ton. Visible gold was reported from a ¼ inch wide quartz veinin a network of narrow quartz veins in claim MR13317. A 60 pound bulk sample assayed 0.76 ounce per ton as per the MNDM historical files.
Explor plans on conducting a two phase exploration program. Phase I is designed to better determine the location of the structural targets via review of existing technical information, ground exploration, outcrop sampling and an airborne geophysical SURVEY.. Phase II will consist of diamond drilling the identified target or targets. A - VTEM survey was completed and a number of untested airborne anomalies have been observed on the property.
